How to replace "invalid C:\Boot.ini" in XP Prof

Question
On turning on my Win XP Pro machine, I get the message "invalid boot.ini loading from c:\windows". The machine then proceeds to boot normally. Is there anything to worry about?

I have seen posts where the same message caused the user to be locked out. I don't want to be locked out. Please help as I do not know what to do at this point before the problem gets more critical.

Resolution

goto system properties, advance, goto startup and recovery, and there is a blank in the default operating system, and no options in the list. goto edit manually, it says that boot.ini does not exist, would you like to create click yes (a function of notepad) then paste the below details and save. then restart ur O.S
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect
